How Can I Reduce Chronic Discharge And Vaginal Burning?

If you are experiencing chronic discharge along with vaginal burning, and you’ve consulted several doctors but have not gotten an accurate diagnosis, the symptoms could be due to an altered vaginal microflora pattern.

What Causes Altered Vaginal Microflora Patterns

Altered vaginal microflora patterns occur when the normal balance of bacteria in the vagina is disrupted.  The vaginal ecosystem contains a mix of ‘good’ bacteria known as lactobacilli, as well as some ‘bad’ bacteria.  The ‘good’ bacteria are normally plentiful and help to protect the vagina from infection.

However, if there is a shift in the vaginal milieu resulting in low levels of lactobacilli, it can cause the bad bacteria to multiply.   When this happens, the secretions that flow from these microbes bathe the vaginal walls and lead to a variety of symptoms, including chronic discharge, burning, irritation, and itching.

Reducing Chronic Discharge And Vaginal Burning Caused By Altered Vaginal Microflora

Restoring balance to the vaginal microflora will reduce chronic discharge and vaginal burning.  However, it’s necessary to first identify the vaginal constituents as well as the altered vaginal microflora state that exists.  Dr. R. Stuart Fowler of Fowler GYN International (FGI) developed the Vaginal Fluid Analysis (VFA) test to assist with this process.

The VFA test is an advanced diagnostic technique in which vaginal secretions are analyzed to determine if an altered vaginal microflora pattern is present.

If an altered vaginal microflora pattern is confirmed, a customized treatment protocol is recommended to restore the health of the vaginal ecosystem.  Once the vaginal microflora is healthy and balanced, the chronic discharge and vaginal burning will resolve.
